“By the time we first met with Geoff we had seen enough examples of his houses to know that we loved his work. In our written program, we asked for a home that provided “a sense of peacefulness, unity and simplicity, all with a lot of style.” We also wanted it to be in harmony with the site and not annoy the neighbors.

Six years, two magazine covers and an AIA Honor Award later, we have a home that is somehow exactly what we wanted while being different from what we had ever imagined. The design phase was an amazing amount of fun and construction went off without a hitch. At our request, Geoff and his team were hugely involved in overseeing construction and it remained on schedule and on budget. We showed up once a month, said something like “Wow! That’s gorgeous!” and left.

While not everyone might want to do it that way, the result is the most beautiful thing we will ever own. While there are far bigger and more expensive homes here on the island, I am completely confident there isn’t a nicer one – we got exactly what we wanted and would do it again in a heartbeat.”

“Claudine and I wish to express our deep gratitude for the efforts of you and your firm over the last two years in the planning and construction of our home. We couldn’t be happier with the house. It is comfortable, functional, unique, and amazingly spacious for a 1750 square foot structure.

Your site planning efforts were tremendous. The home is situated perfectly on what we both agree is a difficult piece of property. Despite its proximity to the beach, the structure has minimal visual impact on the shoreline and natural surroundings. Every room has an incredible view, and the natural light within the home is perfect. The materials you specified for the interior of the home are perfect- durable (kid and dog proof), low maintenance and rich in appearance. The outdoor spaces take perfect advantage of the best part of the property. In short, we consider the finished product nothing short of genius.

No premium product or service is inexpensive, and from the beginning of this project, given the uncertain state of the market, we were reluctant to over-allocate resources to planning for such a ‘simple’ structure. Lesson learned. Your extraordinary level of preparation, detailed planning and your value orientation resulted in completion of the home on-time and on-budget. We firmly believe that the additive value that Prentiss Architects brought to the intrinsic value of the property has more than paid for itself.
